Build Today, Earn Tomorrow
Once you're set up on Smart Placements, you need to create a calendar that will quickly and easily increase relevance with your audience.
Get out a calendar and mark down all the important dates for your audience. From holidays to special months (think Women's History Month), movie release dates, sporting events (Super Bowl or World Cup), conventions (San Diego Comic-Con), awards (Emmys, American Music Awards), or big consumer holidays (Father's Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday). Be as thorough as possible.
While you search, take note of any top keywords you think of as you go. These will come in handy later.
Finally, decide on a day of the week when you'll do your updates and stick to it. The following example calendar assumes that updates are done on Mondays. If it's essential that an update occur on Monday (because what's being promoted is time-sensitive, like an ad for Mother's Day or Black Friday), then add an asterisk (*) on the calendar to flag its importance.
Here's an example of a Smart Placements keyword calendar that you can use as a template:
Once you’ve got all of these ingredients in place, it should only take you less than 15 minutes each week to update your banners in the portal. All you have to do is log in, update the keywords and text color for that week’s placement and hit “save.” Your customized ad banner is automatically updated on your site!
When it comes to keywords, try to list multiple keyword possibilities so you can see which preview best fits your site.
